Sugar or Wax?

STRIP WAX

We use Azulene sensitive strip wax. The Azulene wax contains blue oil obtained from chamomile flower providing anti-inflammatory protection, bactericidal and anti-allergenic.

We also use Amber Silk wax for the face. Soft, smooth, silky wax perfect for all facial and body waxing. Provides phenomenal skin soothing results by using the highest grade synthetic resins, canola oil and olive oil. Lavender and lemon essential oils release a calming scent while softening skin with little to no irritation and residue. If you have an allergy to lavender please let us know so we can use an alternative wax.

Wax is applied, warm to hot, onto the skin going with the direction of hair growth. Pellon (paper-like substance) is applied to the top of the heated wax and then pulled off in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Pros-quick and most people like the heat of the wax.

Cons- can sometimes break the hair, instead of pulling it out from the root. Some people can get heat irritation from the temperature. Sometimes a little wax is left behind, which can be difficult to remove.

SUGAR

Sugar paste is a natural product made of sugar, lemon, and water. We use Tamara's sugar paste. It is made locally in North Bend, WA. Here are some benefits to sugar:

  • EXFOLIATES ONLY THE DEAD SKIN CELLS LEAVING SKIN SMOOTH AND SOFT, NOT RED AND IRRITATED.

  • SUGAR IS APPLIED AT BODY TEMPERATURE SO THERE IS NEVER ANY FEAR OF BURNING YOUR CLIENT.

  • MORE SANITARY, WITH SUGARING THERE IS NO DOUBLE DIPPING. BACTERIA CANNOT BREED IN HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF SUGAR.

  • SUGARING DOES NOT DAMAGE DELICATE FACIAL TISSUES.

  • HAIR IS REMOVED IN THE NATURAL DIRECTION OF GROWTH, SO THERE IS LESS BREAKAGE AND LESS CHANCE OF INGROWN HAIRS.

  • SAFE FOR CLIENTS WHO HAVE DIABETES, VARICOSE VEINS, OR ECZEMA.

Cons:

  • Can be a little more painful (if hair is long) for some due to the pulling as the sugar is molded on and then pulled off.

  • Takes a little longer than waxing.

  • Can cost a little more.
